Core-Mark has about $17
RICHMOND, VA.-BASED
PERFORMANCE FOOD GROUP,
parent company of commissary
giants Core-Mark and Eby-Brown,
has announced a community
solar project as the next step in
delivering on its commitment to
renewable energy procurement.
Performance, in collaboration
with EDPR NA Distributed
Generation, will purchase power
generated from a 2.25 megawatt
project in New Vineyard, Maine,
estimated at 3,000 megawatthours
annually. The project is
anticipated to begin generating
power in 2022 and is set to run
for 20 years.
" We are excited about this
collaboration and how it will
help PFG reduce the intensity
of our power consumption and
increase energy efficiency, " said
PFG Chairman, President and
CEO George Holm. " Energy
management is an important
part of PFG's corporate
responsibility focus. Being able
to procure a larger portion of
our total energy from renewable
resources will reduce our carbon
footprint - supporting a healthy
environment and thriving
communities. "
The project is expected to
allow PFG to avoid 365 metric
tons of emissions annually, which

addresses more than 80% of the
power usage at its Performance
Foodservice - NorthCenter
location in Augusta, Maine.
The renewable power
generated annually by this
project represents 2,103 metric
tons of avoided CO2 emissions,
206,590 gallons of diesel not
consumed, and the equivalent
carbon sequestered by 2,746
acres of forest.
Among PFG's climaterelated
goals is procuring 10%
of its consumed power from
renewable energy by 2030. The
company continues to explore
additional opportunities with the
longtime advisor to its energy
management portfolio, Schneider
Electric, ranked the most
sustainable corporation by the
Corporate Knights in 2021.
Performance announced its
purchase of Core-Mark earlier this
year. According to the companies,
the transaction created a bestin-class
convenience business
within PFG's Vistar segment that
will include the Core-Mark and
Eby-Brown businesses.
The expanded business
operates under the Core-Mark
brand and is headquartered in
Westlake, Texas, with Eby-Brown
maintaining ongoing operations
in Naperville, Ill. Scott McPherson
is continuing as president and
CEO of Core-Mark and Tom Wake
is continuing as president and
CEO of Eby-Brown.
" Core-Mark is an outstanding

significantly strengthen our
business diversification and
expansion into the convenience
store channel, " Holm said. " CoreMark
brings a highly skilled and
experienced workforce along
with an experienced senior
leadership team. This also
combines Core-Mark's footprint
and operational excellence with
PFG's existing capabilities in both
convenience and foodservice. "
The deal comes with strong
strategic and financial merits
which Holm said he believes
will generate significant
billion in net sales. The company
has approximately 7,500
employees and operates 32
distribution centers across the
United States and Canada. CoreMark
services approximately
40,000 customer locations in
all 50 states in the United States,
five Canadian provinces and two
Canadian territories.
