Amazon expands
private label grocery
Amazon has expanded
its private label grocery
lineup with the launch
of a new valuefocused
brand called
Amazon Saver.
The Seattle-based
retail giant called
Amazon Saver a " new
no-frills brand that will
help grocery budgets go
further. " Most Amazon
Saver products are priced
at less than $5, Amazon
said. Prime members get
an extra 10% off Amazon
Saver purchases as part
of the retailer's Our
Brands discount offered
through the customer
benefits program.
Amazon said that
" over time " it plans to
add more than 100
items to the Amazon
Saver line. Products in
the initial rollout include
crackers, cookies, deli
meat, honey, coffee
creamer, pancake syrup,
condiments, and canned
fruit and vegetables,
among other offerings.
Amazon Saver
products are sold both
online and in-store
under the company's
Amazon Fresh grocery
banner, which includes
49 supermarkets in
California, Illinois,
Virginia, Washington,
Pennsylvania, Maryland,
New Jersey and New York.
In tandem with the
brand kickoff, Amazon
has extended Prime
member savings to over
3,000 grocery items.
That includes up to 50%
off a weekly rotation of
8 to 15 products - such
as fresh produce, protein
and pantry staples -
plus 25% off more than
1,200 rotating Primeexclusive
groceries and
household essentials
from top brands, the
company said.
Currently, Amazon
offers Prime members
10% on more than
1,700 products in its
roster of own brands,
which besides the new
Amazon Saver include
Amazon Fresh, Aplenty,
Amazon Kitchen,
Happy Belly and 365 by
Whole Foods Market,
with the latter label
also sold at Amazon's
Whole Foods Market
supermarket chain.
Amazon's launch of
a value-oriented food
brand and expanded
grocery discounts
reflect ongoing efforts
by retailers to serve
up more savings to
inflation-weary shoppers,
who have shown a
rising affinity for private
labels in recent years
amid elevated food and
beverage pricing.
Circana: stable food
markets in '25
The market researcher
Circana is forecasting
retail food and beverage
volume growth in 2025
of between zero and 1%.
Sales dollar growth next
year is expected to be
between 2.5% to 3.5%,
driven by increased price
realization of between
2% to 3%.
In 2024, Circana
projected volume
growth of 1% and at the
mid-year the company
said it stood at 0.8%,
with top-line growth of
2.2% supported by price
realization of 1.4%.
" Following several
years of economic
volatility, we're now
seeing signs of

stabilization across
various sectors, including
food and beverage, "
said Sally Lyons Wyatt,
global executive vice
president and chief
adviser at Circana.
" While we anticipated
greater support from
an improving economy,
the shift from awayfrom-home
to in-home
consumption helped
keep our projections
on track. "
In November 2023,
Circana forecasted that
2024 would signal a
return to growth for
the retail food and
beverage sector after
three years of volume
declines. The projected
volume increase of 1%
Circana anticipated was
above historical norms,
following a 1% drop in
2023, coupled with a
low-price increase of
1.6%, down from 5.7%
in 2023 and 11.4% in
2022. As a result, top-line
growth in 2024 was
expected to slow to 2.3%,
compared to 4.7% in
2023 and 9.5% in 2022.
IDDBA promotes
Atkins
The International Dairy
Deli Bakery Association
(IDDBA) has merged
its marketing and
membership teams and
promoted Whitney Atkins
to vice president of the
new marketing and
membership department.
" Doing even more
to bring together
the already strong
collaboration of
marketing and
membership is exciting, "
Atkins said. " This change
will help us better serve
IDDBA's members and
the industry. "
" Since joining the
association, Whitney
has led marketing efforts
that have produced
event and membership
growth, while working
hard for the association's
endeavors to support
the industry year-round, "
said David Haaf, IDDBA
president and CEO.

that combining
Atkins' marketing
accomplishments and
member loyalty and
growth initiatives will
help IDDBA serve its
member base and
industry well into
the future.
Jeremy Johnson,
vice president of events,
will now oversee
IDDBA's flagship trade
show registration, the
association said.

experienced significant
change in the last few
years, " Haaf said. " These
strategic moves allow
IDDBA to better support
the dairy, deli, and bakery
industries amidst those
changes and into the
future as well. "
